This Is Spring in Rexburg

As of this morning it was dry outside with no snow. We went to church and when we got out at 2, it was snowing. Well by the time we got home 10 minutes later, it was a full blown snowstorm with Rexburg's specialty: horizontal snowfall. In March sometimes Spring wins out and sometimes winter does. Today winter definitely won. Hopefully we get more spring days soon.

March

The Maiden Voage of the Evenflo

So I have absolutely been dying to get out of the house and go for walks, but the weather has not permitted it. Winter is desperately trying to hold on with low temperatures and angry winds. However today, there was only a light wind, and the temperatures were moderate so Katie and I ventured out into the great outdoors. Katie loved this new activity. She even decided to nap through part of it which was a blessing since she has been crabby today. It was so great to get out of the house and get some exercise. And I heard birds singing! oh how I get so excited to hear birds sing for the first time since fall.

On another note, Katie started cereal this week. She did really well with. She ate from the spoon without a problem so that was exciting. We're working on sitting up and other great things like that.

And thanks to everyone for the suggestions on getting Katie to sleep. She's doing better, but sometimes relapses so I'm still working on it. But I really appreciated all your suggestions.

4 months old

Katie turned four months old on Monday. I can't believe it's already been four months. She is getting big, that's for sure. At her four month check up on Monday she weighed 17.6 lbs. and measured 26.5 inches. That puts her in the 99% for both height and weight. She's been in her 6-9 month clothes for a couple weeks, and she's now outgrowing her car seat. i don't knw what we're going to do about that because new ones are so expensive, and the infant ones fit in the grocery carts and she's not sitting on her own yet so I can't just plop her in the cart.

I am so grateful that she is a healthy and happy baby. And I love being a mom. Just recently in our old ward a couple lost their baby at 24 weeks and another couple miscarried at 14 weeks. So sad. I was so sad to hear of their losses, and hearing about them made me realize how much I take for granted. I love my little family so much, and I am so grateful for them.

Katie discovered books this week. We think it's great since Justin and I both love books, and it's a way to keep her reverent at church. here's a video of her doing tummy time/reading.

As wonderful as being a mom is, sometimes I struggle. I can't get Katie to sleep on her own. Whether it's a nap or bedtime she won't sleep for more than twenty minutes unless I hold her. For those seasoned mom's out there what do I do? Maybe I should read parenting books or look online, but I just don't want to use my extra time doing it.

New Dress

So Katie is already tall enough to wear 6-9 mo dresses and we only had two for her. One that drives us crazy because it rides up and another one that's velvetty and hard to keep nice with how much Katie pukes. So Mom got her a few dresses.
This is a picture of Katie in one of her new dresses. This particular one came with a special pair of tights. If you look closely enough you might be able to tell that those arent' shoes on her feet, but just part of ehr tights. So cute. Thanks Mom

Ode to Abbey

So I was going to write a little poem about my old roommate, Abbey and how wonderful she is, but I'm not good at poetry, and it would take too much effort for me to make a composition right now. Nevertheless, I need to say how great Abbey is.These are ten reasons why I always want to live in the same city as her.

1. She helped me realize that Justin was interested in me
2. Not only did she come with me to Vegas, but she hung out with my future in-laws while I went ring shopping with Justin.
3. She helped me clean and pack up my sister's house when she moved.
4. She let me borrow her vacuum.
5. She babysits Katie for me.
6. She watched my nieces and nephew (who stayed with me for a week) while I had a dr. appointment
7. She bought me the best plastic wrap in the world
8. She cleaned my house for me when I was in the hospital with Katie
9. She helped us move this weekend and stayed until midnight helping us clean and unpack.
10. She used to listen to me for hours

Our New Home

We moved into our new home yesterday. Thanks to all our friends and family that helped out. We're so so so grateful to all of you who helped with Katie, cleaning, and moving. We couldn't have done it without you.
We love our new home. It's smaller, but that gives me an excuse to get rid of all the junk that we don't need. I love downsizing. We LOVE having a washer and dryer. We celebrated its use by doing several loads last night alone.
We want our friends and family to still come visit often so stop in sometime.
