HELP!!!!

Katie refuses to take naps. I can tell she is getting sleep deprived, but I don't want to "force" her to take a nap. What do I do?
I put her down for a nap the same time every day and do the same routine every day. I don't know what else to do. Is she outgrowing her nap or is she just being a stubborn toddler asserting her independence?

Any suggestions?

Oh Jill. Katie and Piper are two peas in a pod. I wish I could help, but mine refuses to nap, and is also way to picky of an eater!!

Some of mine have been nappers and some of them gave them up as soon as they could. Haleigh was done napping at the same age as Katie. Caleb napped all the way until three. The rest have been somewhere in between. We'll see what happens with Joshua and Levi. You can't force them to sleep. What I do with mine is in lieu of the nap they won't take, they have quiet time in their room at the same time that they'd normally be napping. They need to stay in their room and play/look at books, etc., quietly for however long I determine is appropriate. I have found that my toddlers, even if they don't nap anymore, still need some down time, which also fosters independent play. Sometimes they may end up falling asleep and sometimes just the separate time is enough to rejuvenate them. I know every child is different, though, so you'll probably have to experiment a little to arrive at what works best for you and Katie. Maybe Katie will have to have a little earlier bed time to compensate for the sleep she's missing. Good luck:)

I have to agree with April. I guess that's what we have older sisters for. I thought Andrew was going to give up his nap for a few weeks, where he wouldn't nap. But now he'll take a nap again, with some effort, of course. Hang in there. It's always hard when they get to a new stage.

Believe it or not Tyse and Lex still nap. Lex not nearly as much. We have a 30 minute rest time and all they are allowed to do is look at one book, they usually fall asleep. With my two, they end up so cranky without it that its easier to do that then to be continually getting upset because of the whining or fighting. Your girls are absolutely adorable!!
